Tomb Raider Definitive PS4 vs. Xbox One, 60fps vs. 30fps

By Peter Chubb - Jan 23, 2014

Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is an up-to-date version of last years release and will be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One at the end of this month. So far no one has been able to report on the average FPS for the game, but a recent article suggests that the PS4 version will run at 60fps and the Xbox One at 30fps.

While we are unable to confirm these results, this article says that their source has it on good authority that these frame rates are the real deal, but we are certain you will still be a little skeptical.

Let’s say that this is true, then this would mean that the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition PS4 version frame rate would be double that of the Xbox One version, although it has been suggested that this occasionally increases to 45fps.

Compare this to the PS4 version that is said to sit around 60fps for most of the game. It would be nice to have conformation of this from Crystal Dynamics or even a video to support these findings. So for now we should take this with a grain of salt.

Speaking of the different versions, we recently looked at the difference in graphics between the PS3 and PS4 versions.

Further evidence..if it was needed. I genuinely feel sorry for people who game on Xbox as they would almost be bound to stay on the Xbox for friends, achievements etc. I know I have always been on the PS and would not have gone across XBox even if the PS4 was inferior. I suppose if you get into voice commands and gestures, then the reduced power could be worth it.
CD probably do not want to come out and crap all over their XBox version, so I don’t think you’ll hear from them anytime soon.
