While we have no precise release date for the Samsung Galaxy S5, we can tell you that the LG G3 will arrive in May, according to latest reports. Even though the S5 will still get the jump on LG, the G3 early release by at least four months will be a huge help.
The LG G2 was only released in September, meaning its predecessor; the G3 would be released just 8 months later. We have to remember that this is just one in a series of rumors for the new handset from LG, but there is good reason to believe the source, as it puts it much closer to the Galaxy S5 release date, which is very important in trying to tackle its dominance.
Most reports would suggest that the Galaxy S5 will be with us as early as March, although April is still a possibility. If LG does release its G3 much sooner, then this could go either way for them because if we are to believe the rumors of the Galaxy S5 specs, then the phone is going to be very tough to beat.
Having said that, both these Android handsets could share a common feature, which is a curved display.
Whatever happens LG needs to have a great 2014 if they have any hope of clawing back some market share. They had a decent 2013, but the G2 was not the fan favorite they expected it to be, even though it is still a very impressive handset.
It is for this very reason why it is plausible that the LG G3 release could be brought forward, although they also need to add in some unique design features and also superb marketing.
