By Updated on

We have some exciting news for owners of the PS3 and PS4 as it has been announced that an HBO Go app is incoming to the consoles. Sony and HBO has joined forces to offer on demand content to PlayStation gamers, with fans also demanding the app for PlayStation Vita.

This news was broken first by Phil Rosenberg on the official PlayStation Blog, confirming that the HBO Go app would be released on PS3 first. The PS4 app will be added shortly after although it is unknown if this app will also be made available for the PS Vita.

We have seen a huge demand from gamers calling for an HBO Go app on their Vita, allowing them to watch their favorite shows from anywhere. The exact release dates have not been confirmed yet, however we will update our readers when we get them. Hopefully Sony will also give good news on a Vita app too.

HBO delivers an array of hugely popular shows, with Game of Thrones being the highlight of this lineup. Other programs such as True Detective, Girls and Boardwalk Empire will be available for viewing from your PS3 or PS4 from now on. All you need is your HBO subscription via your cable or satellite provider and your console will stream you unlimited on demand access.

We will be keeping an eye out for a PS Vita announcement as there is clearly a big desire for an HBO Go app on the handheld device. Will you be taking advantage of the incoming app on your Sony consoles?
