PS4 secret with double DualShock4 battery

By Alan Ng - Jan 16, 2014

While most of you may be loving the new DualShock 4 controller that comes with the PS4, others maybe a little disappointed that the battery life isn’t up to standard. If the latter falls into your category, you’ll be very interested to find out that there is a way to double the battery life of the DualShock 4.

Although most of you may not have any problems with the DualShock 4 battery life, others have complained that it doesn’t last as long as the DualShock 3 on the PS3. With this in mind, we’ve seen eager PS4 users search for an alternative around this solution and you’ll be pleased to see that there does appear to be one available.

The battery fitted inside the PS4 DualShock 4 is a 3.65V 1000mAh capacity. If you dig around via online retailers, you should be able to find a 3.7V 1800 mAh battery instead. The best thing about this is that it costs next to nothing to do this – Amazon are selling them here, while we’ve seen another retailer here sell these batteries for as little as $3.61 with worldwide shipping.

Discussion on this over at Reddit suggests that this is a safe procedure, which doesn’t require extensive modding to achieve the end result. Double battery life from your DualShock 4 controller is an exciting prospect for sure – you just have to go out and pick up a secondary battery yourself.

Have you been doing research on this? If so, let us know how you get on and if you are already using a DualShock 4 controller with a higher capacity battery.
