Both Jaguar and Lexus showcased their Coupés during the Detroit Auto Show and while the RC F looks rather nice in its styling, it’s a little too aggressive, and so the F-type R wins our vote. This is the hard roof version of the Jaguar F-type cabriolet, which has proved a hit with drivers; as such the order books had filled up rather fast. Sales have slowed down since, but this was always going to be the case, as they knew the better-looking Coupé was on its way.
A lot of work has been done with the hard roof version because of US rollover legislation, although with it being much lighter things should get very interesting when you introduce the Jaguar F-type Coupé to a corner.
Choosing the new Jag over the Lexus RC F Coupe will come down to several factors, but the main one is whether you can handle the outlandish style. However, if you are sitting on the fence, then the 450 horsepower should help in your decision process.
One thing we do know, the RC F Coupe is a more extreme version of the RC Coupe, and so we won’t expect it to take any prisoners on a track. However, this car will spend most of its life on the streets, and with that in mind do you think it is too much car and over the top in terms of styling to be enjoyed by everyday drivers?
