It’s been a while since Motorola released a tablet device, although its last effort the Xoom 2 was something that the company would rather forget. A new tablet is now long overdue, although we had assumed to see them release one last year alongside the Moto X smartphone.
We really thought this would happen and that the device would be called the Moto X tablet because that would follow what Sony did with the Xperia Z. However, we are now in 2014 and Motorola has yet to show their hand.
A definite Motorola tablet release – We know that Motorola is working on a new tablet because they have said so, although we have no clue as to how far into development the device is, or even if it has got that far.
Motorola has been speaking to Pocket Lint where they said the main focus for now is on smartphones, which is backed up by the release of the Moto X to the UK market possibly by the start of next month.
Moto X tablet customization – Motorola know they need to think out the box again with its next tablet, and they believe that being able to customize a tablet by using Moto Maker would make it a very popular selling point.
As for the Moto X tablet release date, this is a long way off because Motorola does not want to lose focus of its biggest moneymaker, which is the smartphone market. They have only just found their feet again and now need to build on the Moto X and Droid range of handsets.
