Sledgehammer gearing up for next gen Call of Duty title by hiring

By Updated on

It looks like Sledgehammer games are gearing up for a next gen Call of Duty title after posting job vacancies for an upcoming project. The studio has posted an advert on LinkedIn, looking to hire a temporary weapons and vehicle artist for the future shooter game.

Call of Duty publisher Activision has also put out a number of ads for various positions within Sledgehammer Games. These roles include engineering, art, animation and design; they also confirmed that the studio is currently working on a next gen Call of Duty game. You can see the full job description and requirements of the studio here.

History tells us that the newest edition of COD will be released this November, it should be Treyarch’s turn to develop the game. As you may well know Sledgehammer worked in collaboration with Infinity Ward on Modern Warfare 3, so it seems they will work with Treyarch this time around. It would be surprising if the tradition was broken and Sledgehammer took on the whole project themselves.

It will be interesting to see if this next generation Call of Duty game will stick with its principles and become a sequel to Black Ops 2. Alternatively the developers could follow Infinity Ward and start up a whole new project, like they did with Ghosts after dropping the Modern Warfare franchise. Many fans will just be worrying whether or not Zombie Mode will return with the next title, we don’t see any reason why the adored survival game will not.

Are you looking forward to a new next generation Call of Duty game for the PS4 and Xbox One later this year? Let us know what kind of experience you want to see and how the developers can make the next title a real game changer.
