We have an important heads-up for those with a Samsung Galaxy S4 handset which is also a Google Play Edition. The Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 update is now going live for owners of this version, bringing the same bug fixing update that has reached other Android devices, such as the Nexus 7 2013 model.
If you have a Galaxy S4 handset with a model number of I9505GUEUCML4, you may be set to receive Android 4.4.2 at any moment. Rollouts have now begun for a 57.5MB update which will be drafted to your handset via an OTA notification.
Failing that, you can also head to your device settings and attempt to push the update manually, to see if Android 4.4.2 for the Galaxy S4 Google Play edition is ready right now.
Hopefully, we won’t see the same problems though that have been bugging Nexus 7 2013 users. You can see in a problem thread here that consumers have been having various issues with the update, with the worst offender a battery drain problem.
While Google are obviously favoring their version of the Galaxy S4 for the Android 4.4.2 update, it may be a blessing in disguise if the battery drain problem still exists.
If you have the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, let us know if you have the Android 4.4.2 update already and how your handset is handling at the moment.
