Amazon is trying to help make their Kindle HDX available for everyone this Christmas by offering a payment plan for added affordability. In an effort to maximize sales, Amazon’s flagship tablet will be offered on an installment deal so that those with lighter pockets can pick one up none the less.
The Kindle Fire HDX can be bought on an interest free payment plan, with repayments starting at $57 per quarter. Opting for this deal will bag you the 7 inch Kindle with Wi-Fi. However if you want to go with the 8.9 inch display you will be set back $95 instead every three months, these deals come with special offers.
Amazon are selling the 7 inch model outright for $229 and the 8.9 version for $379, both with 16 GB memory capacity. The prices of these tablets alone are not cheap for everyone and we can see many people taking advantage of Amazon’s payment plan. Whilst no interest or fees are charged, it is worth noting that if you miss a payment Amazon may cut off your access to their content.
There is also the possibility that defaulting will see your account deleted, although Amazon may want to give a second chance for payment before pulling the trigger. All in all we see this as a reasonable deal and a nice gesture on Amazon’s part. It will be interesting to see if rivals like Apple step in and make a similar kind of plan available to help put more iPads in shopping carts.
Will you be taking advantage of Amazon’s payment plan and pick up a Kindle Fire HDX this holiday season?
