You might have been hands-on with the Sony PS4 since launch and never bothered purchasing a camera, or like us you left the new camera wrapped up and didn’t try PS4′s PlayRoom thanks to having fun with Battlefield 4 and COD Ghosts.

Today, we decided to have a break from Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty. The camera doesn’t feel expensive and in fact seems a little basic, but once connected all that is forgotten after visiting the PS4 PlayRoom with robots and more.

We spent over an hour doing mindless things in Sony’s new PS4 PlayRoom and most of this time had been spent interacting with the robots.

Sony decided to skip the idea of purchasing motion controllers with PS4 and took the best of the PS3 motion controller, then delivered these features within the GamePad itself right out-of-the-box. This means you only need a camera, then your standard controller becomes a lot more once you visit the PlayRoom and we recommend it to all PS4 owners.

Ideal for families – this mode is perfect for families, although we could imagine it would become boring after a few goes unless you have very young children. If you have a baby, or toddler, then the robots inside PS4′s PlayRoom would make great floor time with your young child.

Babies will enjoy understanding seeing themselves on TV via the camera and love interacting with the robots.

There’s a number of modes to see inside the PlayRoom that take note of where your face is, your body and then interact with these elements in a fun way. The flying robot will play or attack you depending on if you play nice, or not.

We have embedded a video below this article giving you a visual review of the PS4 PlayRoom and its robots. The first video includes a number of people and even a dog, although see a second video for a quick tech demo.

It will be interesting to see how Sony use the camera and PS4 controller within upcoming games. So far, we are very impressed with the new PS4 controller and camera abilities.
