When it was announced that Call of Duty Ghosts was only going to be in 720p for the Xbox One version, there was a huge debate as to whether this could affect sales of the game on that platform. However, there will not be the same discussion for Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition because its Xbox One gameplay will be in full 1080p.
The very first trailer for Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was shown at VGX over the weekend, and the developer has said that the game really needs to be experienced in 1080p, and looking at the footage we can see why they would say such a thing.
Scot Amos, executive producer at Crystal Dynamics has been talking to OXM about what was involved at getting the most from the game on a platform that is very new. He said the team had to take the game apart and rebuild it to get the results needed.
Texture resolutions also had to be increased in order to get the game up to 1080p, and it is this hard work that we cannot wait to see the very first Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition gameplay footage go live – whenever that will be.
While improved graphics is all very well, there is no getting over the fact that the NPCs in the previous Tomb Raider title left a lot to be desired, and so we hope that a few improvements are made to these charcters.
