We heard rumors of a budget iPhone for years and they intensified earlier this year, and so it wasn’t that much of a shock when Apple finally announced the release of the iPhone 5C. This wasn’t exactly the low-cost iPhone that we had been expecting, but it was still cheaper than the main version, which this year is the iPhone 5S.
We knew right away that sales of the iPhone 5S would be on par with last years model, or even better, but as for the 5C model, well we didn’t have a clue. While Apple has yet to give us any kind of figures, some reports would suggest the 5C isn’t doing that great, but that could all change as we move ever closer to Christmas?
For this reason we thought we would offer an iPhone 5S vs 5C review of specs. We will compare the specs of each one and take a look at a couple of video reviews to see which is the better gift for Christmas and the future – well an iPhone isn’t just for Christmas.
The iPhone 5S comes in a choice of 3 colors, silver, gold and space, whereas the 5C comes in a choice of green, blue, yellow, pink and white. Apple never offers specifies such as processor speed or RAM for its iPhone models, but we do know you get a A7 chip with 64-bit architecture in the 5S and an A6 chip in the 5C.
Both models share the same 4-inch Retina display with a 1136×640 resolution and 326 PPI and almost the same camera features, although the 5S does benefit from 8 megapixels with 1.5µ pixels, Auto image stabilization, Burst mode and Slo-mo video. The camera is almost identical to the one in the iPhone 5, although the 5C does benefit from a Sapphire crystal lens cover.
All the other iPhone 5S and 5S features are pretty much the same. However, you will see in the video reviews below just how different these two handsets perform because if the different processors and graphics chips.
It is clear this decision is a tougher one because the gap in price is very similar to that of the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina, but they have the same specs but just a different screen size.
