It has been discussed on a number of occasions, and now we can finally tell you that the first Android 4.4 KitKat updates since the nexus 5 are to start today. The next devices to make use of this update are the Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013 models) and the current Nexus 10.

While we have no set time as to when KitKat will go live, we can tell you that the Nexus 7 should be first, with the 10 following later today. As always, this will be an OTA update, so you need to keep checking throughout the day to see if it has gone live for your device.

However, there is one problem with the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Nexus 7 and 10, and that is they are for the Wi-Fi only models, so if you also have the mobile date model, then we are afraid you will have a longer wait – but how long we do not know.

It was obvious that some of the more recent Nexus smartphones and tablets were going to see the update first. This just leaves the question of how long the likes of Samsung, HTC, Motorola, LG and Sony will keep their customers waiting?

The lack of Wi-Fi and 3G Android 4.4 KitKat support of some Nexus devices is a huge issue, but we are sure this will not be the only one. It will only be a matter of time before people begin to complain about problems brought on by this new update, something we have come to expect over the years from Android and iOS.
