Are you planning to pick up Call of Duty Ghosts as your first launch title on PS4? If so, you may be busy trying to find some COD Ghosts PS4 reviews that are now popping up online before the big launch this weekend. Unfortunately though, some early criticisms have been made in reference to the COD Ghosts PS4 frame rate Vs the Xbox One version.
As most of you will know, there was a very big piece of information revealed recently, with the PS4 version of the game outputting at 1080p native, while the Xbox One version could only manage 720p native, upscaled to 1080p offering a much lower resolution than PS4.
While this is now a fact, it does appear that the Xbox One version currently has the edge with regards to frame rate. Many reviews that are going live have picked up on the fact that the PS4 version of COD Ghosts drops frame rate often.
Examples include Polygon’s review of COD Ghosts on PS4, who had the following the say with regards to the frame rate problem:
“As mentioned in the initial review, Call of Duty: Ghosts suffers from consistent framerate drops on the PS4, especially during multiplayer when action got especially hectic. The Xbox One version suffered no such drops, maintaining a steady 60 frames per second throughout.”
While this may be a worry for those picking up the game at launch, there is some good news to bring you at the same time. Developers Infinity Ward are already thought to be aware of the problem and are planning a patch after release to improve the situation.
Is it surprising though that the PS4 has frame rate drops often, at a higher resolution than the Xbox One version with 720p but a smoother frame rate? Give us your reaction to the news – Call of Duty Ghosts lands on PS4 this Friday.
