While we have just informed you about tales from early Xbox One sales that could have had repercussions with regards to offline-play, it looks like Sony has been busy offering the PS4 console to some lucky users ahead of their own release schedule.
Right now it appears that a new storm is brewing over on the Xbox One scene, all about DRM which you can read about on Neogaf here. In the meantime, Sony has been busy sending out word that the PS4 is about to launch.
A rather eye-catching PS4 unboxing video has emerged, courtesy of infamous YouTube ‘Francis’, who you may also know as Boogie2988. If you didn’t know, Francis is a made-up character and has provided a video showing his personal unboxing of the PS4.
We see during the video his obvious excitement, whilst also showing just a hint of what the PS4 boot-up screen looks like. Considering that this is a staged video somewhat, it is worth pointing out a few facts that we’ve found out about the clip since publish.

The first is that while Sony sent this PS4 console to Boogie2988, Francis has since revealed that he only had two hours to play games on it. We’re guessing that this was the terms and conditions set by Sony in order for the gesture to be made possible, but who would turn down two hours with the PS4 ahead of everyone else anyway?
It’s still a great gesture by Sony, even if Boogie didn’t get to keep the console permanently. It also explains why it isn’t really a proper unboxing video and doesn’t show off more of the PS4 UI. Enjoy it above though and let us know what you think about it.
