How are you getting on with your Pokemon X and Y shiny collection so far? We told you that there may be a possibility to increase the rate of finding a shiny using the waiter tip in the game, but now it appears that there is an even more wacky way to speed up the process.
As it has now become apparent to players, there is still a lot of secrets to uncover in Pokemon X and Y for players that have completed the game. Game Freak has well and truly covered their bases with the amount of possible content in the game, plus more that will be on the way soon with the addition of events to unlock even more hidden content.
Back to the shiny hunting though, as one user has taken to the extremes, in order to boost the rate of encountering a shiny Pokemon. You probably know that you can participate in chain fishing to boost the rate of finding a shiny.
However, this process is often very time consuming and often leads to players giving up after repeated failed attempts. One user decided that the pain was too much to take and has gone to the lengths of modding his 3DS with a Arduino-based microcontroller that is soldered directly into the motherboard of the Nintendo 3DS.
This wonderful contraption can be seen in all its glory in the video below. It is able to simulate the battle processes in the game and correctly detect each time when a shiny encounter has occurred. Once that happens, the controller then sends an alarm to the player who has now gone idle away from the 3DS, to return to his system and catch the shiny in question.
Obviously this is a secret method that will be out of reach to most players, but you would agree that it is an amazing way of catching the special versions? You probably can’t get much more hardcore than that right?
Watch the clip and let us know what you think about it. Do you wish there was an easier way to catch shiny Pokemon in X and Y?
