So now word has spread that the PS4 version of Battlefield 4 runs at a pleasing 900p resolution, compared to the Xbox One version which will only be able to manage 720p. Both versions however can support 60 frames a second in multiplayer and now we have a fantastic preview to offer on how this relates to the PS4 version.
Just like Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer, it now appears that Battlefield 4 PS4 multiplayer will be 60 frames per second, on ‘most occasions’ during gameplay. It was always likely that such a frantic and fast-paced style of gameplay like Battlefield 4 wouldn’t be able to handle a solid 60FPS on console, and now we see evidence that the FPS will drop at certain points.
Big explosions for example, or other graphic intensive moments during your PS4 session will cause the framerate to drop for a few seconds. The good news though, is that this shouldn’t be a hinderance to your experience in any way, as you’ll see in the provided video that the framerate returns to 60FPS within seconds.
The good guys over at Digital Foundry recently confirmed the resolution for both next-gen versions of the game, which you can read about in detail here. Now, we have a video from them which shows you how well the PS4 version will run in multiplayer, conducting tests in the process after getting their hands on a preview from DICE.
Although you can see that the drop in frame rate is frequent, the fact that it only lasts a few seconds shouldn’t cause you any actual problems when you are in the heat of the battle.
With that said, the gameplay and visuals look absolutely fantastic, do you agree? Check out the analysis below and let us know what you think about it.
