Battlefield 4 on PS4 may be 1080p native after all

By Updated on

If you are planning to pick up Battlefield 4 on PS4, then the big debate that is raging on at the moment, is the mystery regarding the unconfirmed final resolution for the game. Everyone obviously wants to see a resolution of 1080p native running at 60FPS, but so far DICE has yet to come forward and give everyone this crucial piece of information.

For the average gamer, this information probably isn’t required as they’ll just pick up a copy from the shops and enjoy it regardless. However, for those a little more clued up, 1080p native and 60FPS is now seen as the holy grail on next-gen systems, with many gamers disappointed to see so many developers hiding away from publicly disclosing the details.

With this mind, you may find Sony’s official listing for the game very interesting indeed. DICE may be keeping silent, but Sony appears to be more open to the subject. On their SEN listing for Battlefield 4 on the PS4, they have clearly listed on more than one occasion that the game will run at a 1080p native resolution.

Let's hope this is true.

Let’s hope this is true.

You can see it yourself over at the page here. Is this as good as confirmation as it gets though, or do we still need a confirmation from DICE on this? We recently heard from Microsoft saying that they actually don’t know what resolutions third-party developers set their games at, but would Sony be in the loop on this instance?

It looks promising, but we can also spot that the controller support listed on the same page shows Dual Shock 3 – so that’s suspicious.

Are you hoping to see Battlefield 4 1080p native? How will you feel if it isn’t?

I’m going to keep my expectations down, I would bet more on 900p for PS4. But I could be wrong.

It’s pretty obvious that PS4 support 1080p. If you think about it…if you’re a developer such as DICE and people ask you which resolution is PS4 and Xbox One and knowing that there is a discrepancies…would you rather keep quiet and try to sell as many games as possible or would you tell them what the resolution on both platform and risk losing game sell?? Of course you will keep quiet until the released date. The same w/ Microsoft, they will keep quiet and i am sure they even tell DICE to keep quiet so they can sell as many system as possible. Imagine if DICE come out and say Xbox One only support 720p and PS4 support 1080p, then that will make fans want to switch over to PS4 and even cancel Xbox One just for BF4 game. As for Sony, they surely have no problem coming out and say their BF4 game support 1080p…they have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
