Those of you who still want more after seeing the new Retina Display on the iPad mini might be intrigued to know more about the 4K tablet displays from Japan Display. As Panasonic has already jumped on board with the massive 20-inch tablet in the same resolution, many potential consumers may be looking for a happy medium that could be more handheld friendly.

In an informative article on Engadget they highlight 4K 12-inch tablets as unified forces behind Japan Display, which include the likes of Sony, Hitachi and Toshiba have announced they have managed to combine a 4K resolution into a 12.1-inch TFT module.

With a screen boasting 365 pixels per inch a press release gives us the impression the new screen module remains power-efficient and thin as well. With this in mind, Sony is part of this group and we recently spoke about the Panasonic 4K tablet in Toughpad UT-MB5 which is expected to release next month, although we are not expecting this to release to the general public.

Apparently, this will be available for around £3,800, but for professional use only at the moment like architects and so forth. We can see this being the ideal screen for requiring the best quality for demonstrations, although we are unsure how heavy this product actually is. However, we can see potential consumers showing interest in these products no matter what they are used for.
