PS4, Xbox One retail boxes exposed pre-launch

By Updated on

If you are eager to find out what the retail boxes for the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One launches will look like, you’ll be pleased to know that photos are now starting to emerge which dish the dirt. We’ve noticed that the designs chosen by Sony and Microsoft are nothing special, with both deciding to keep boxes relatively simple, as opposed to going all out with an unusual design.

We would have liked to see something a little adventurous, but it looks like we won’t be seeing that with the final PS4 and Xbox One boxes. In all honesty, the designs are a little boring, as you’ll see for yourself by looking at the image above.

The guys over at Skewed n Reviewed have managed to get hold of some images, showing retail boxes for the PS4 and Xbox One. The PS4 shows a blue and white theme as we have seen over the last few months, but the Xbox One box is a little more surprising – with Microsoft opting to cover the whole box in green.

We understand that the Xbox One box is different to other Xbox One boxes that were previously black in color, so perhaps Microsoft may have had a change in heart with what to go with for the final design.

Are you feeling the green or not?

It’s also worth pointing out that both boxes are for display only, clearly marked on the PS4 retail box. Does this mean that we’ll see Sony and Microsoft both make changes to make the boxes a little more glamorous? – Let’s hope so.

What are your thoughts on the all-green box for the Xbox One, do you honestly like it or do you think Microsoft could have put out something a little better? Either way, it is the system inside that counts! Roll on November everyone.

They both have stayed safe to the original advertising colours. It’s all part of brand awareness. Sure the green box is a bit bland. But it makes the actual console and the name stand out even more. Have to say I’m surprised that Sony elected to put ‘PS4′ and not ‘PlayStation 4′ on the box. But hey ho, as you say, it’s about what’s inside the box.
