We do love how one company brings a wearable electronic device out and others follow in fast succession. It was two days ago when Nike revealed its Fuelband SE, which we know will be released on November 6th for $149. Now it is time for Adidas to show off what they have to offer, and they have gone for a smartwatch instead.
Adidas say its new device will appeal to runners rather than all tech fans; this is because it comes with built-in GPS tracking and Bluetooth. However, it is the pulse-based heart rate tracking that runners will appreciate the most, something FuelBand users would love.
The Adidas smartwatch is not like Galaxy Gear, but then it does not pretend to be either. So, you cannot control your smartphone with this device, but you can listen to audio of your heart training with a pair of Bluetooth headphones, which come in with the price.
Speaking of the price, Forbes reports that the Adidas smartwatch will cost $399, which is a bit on the expensive side. This is rather expensivewhen you consider it is just a standalone device, and can only connect to those Bluetooth speakers. It does seem as though the likes of Adidas and Samsung have different interpretations of what they would call a smartwatch.
You have to ask yourself if you are prepared to pay $250 more for this device over the Nike FuelBand SE? We believe this will be a tough sell for Adidas, but then we know how much fitness fanatics spend on products to help they stay fit.
