Battlefield 4 tested in 900p on Xbox One, PS4

By Updated on

If you have been following the development of Battlefield 4 on Xbox One and PS4, you’ll know that there has been a heated debate on the final resolution of the game. Early footage has shown the next-gen versions to be running at 720p, but now we have some images to show you on how BF4 could look like if boosted up to 900p instead.

The promising thing to note, is that it looks like DICE is yet to make a final decision on which resolution the game will ship with on Xbox One and PS4. With this in mind, you can bet that DICE has been hammered with requests and also complaints, to ensure that the next-gen versions look as close to the PC version as possible.

It appears that resolution and frame rate is everything to gamers these days, and 720p may not be enough to satisfy the appetites of most. This week, we give you a great insight into how the game may look if DICE ever decided to bring Battlefield 4 to 900p visuals instead.

The guys over at DualShockers have provided some great analysis for us, comparing screenshots of the game side by side with either 720p or 900p visuals. The difference in quality is clearly there to see, resulting in a lot more crispier textures and assets than the same assets in 720p.

Can you spot the difference with Battlefield 4 in 900p?

We bring you a few examples to show you here, such as a look at a Battlefield 4 tank in 720p and 900p, but you should head to the link above for the full collection. DICE has said that they don’t want to harm the overall quality of the game, but others have their own view on why 1080p isn’t happening – even some extreme conspiracy theories that the Xbox One hardware may be to blame with EA’s exclusive partnership with Microsoft now in place.

Do you get the sense that Battlefield 4 isn’t ready for next-gen consoles yet? Take a look at the images and give us your thoughts on the lack of 1080p native on Xbox One and PS4.

Yea let’s take a side by side comparison of 1280×720 vs 1600×900 resolution, then downscale it to 600×340 and ask people to “spot the difference”. Nice job.

60fps at least at native 900p would be awesome. Even if upscaled to 1080p it would still be better than decent.
