With Microsoft’s Xbox One console not due to go on sale until November 22 in many regions, we wouldn’t expect to find an ‘official’ Xbox One unboxing just yet. However, one notable video has already found its way online, but it looks like there may be an understory behind the video which suggests that somebody may lose their job over it.
This video attempts to suggest that the user in question has received his Xbox One console ‘early’. However, it becomes fairly obvious as the video goes on that this is in fact an Xbox One dev kit console that we are dealing with here and not a final retail version.
Watch the hilarious comment as the user explains that his console came in a plain white cardboard box from Microsoft, but mysteriously tries to hide various angles of the console with packaging and cables – obviously a tactic to try and avoid identification from Microsoft.
The real story here, if we were to guess, is that this young chap’s father works for Microsoft and he has managed to get hold of a dev kit for early testing purposes as a bonus. Unfortunately though, if Microsoft are able to identify this leaker, this father may not have a job to go back to in the future.
While the kid attempts to be the hero of his fellow classmates, it would probably make more sense to just enjoy the console behind closed doors – I mean why risk it? It’s obvious that this is a dev kit here and is more than likely going to lead to his parent/s getting in trouble over it.
What do you make of this? We await the day when Microsoft actually decides to ship retail consoles in plain white cardboard boxes. Nice try though!
