With just a week to go until the official and glorious launch of Pokemon X and Y, we are pleased to finally tell you that the reviews have now started to go live for the game. Unsurprisingly, it looks like the pre-hype was well and truly justified as we’re yet to find a negative review for the game as of yet.
Fans knew that they were in for a special treat with the latest iteration of the series and it looks like Nintendo and Game Freak have not disappointed. IGN has published their official review of the game, awarding the title a 9/10 and a rating of ‘Amazing’ in the process.
The game is the first fully 3D Pokemon adventure to arrive on handheld remember and is also the first game in the series to introduce mega evolutions. IGN has praised the addition of mega evolutions in the game, also reserving special praise to mention the ‘great character design’ and ‘rich multiplayer’ mode.
Elsewhere, other reviews tell the same story. Polygon has given the game a 9.5/10, revealing that it was the first game that they have played in years that made them remember the ‘school playground days’ – and what a classic period of time that was, trading Pokemon with your friends during lunch break on the Red and Blue versions.
If there’s one potential criticism that we may hear about after release, it could be linked to the game’s AI trainers. IGN have called them ‘brainless’, so it could be one issue that you may have to contend with amongst all of the other praises.

Have you managed to pick up an early copy of the game? Would you agree with critics in saying that Pokemon X and Y is the best game ever in the series, but has brainless AI trainers? Don’t forget to check out information on the final starter evolutions here and here.
