If you thought that Call of Duty Ghosts multiplayer mode was the only mode in the game where you’ll get to play with friends online, think again. Infinity Ward has just announced and fully unveiled the new Squads mode, allowing players to team-up in a variety of game modes, including taking on Infinity Ward’s AI bots for the first time.
It actually looks very solid as well. It seems to us that Infinity Ward are trying to take a direct page out of DICE’s book by featuring more team-based gameplay as we saw so effectively with squads in Battlefield 3.
Now, those picking up Ghosts will have the option of heading into Squads mode instead of multiplayer, compiling your own team and putting them to the test either against a team of bots in a variety of game modes, or indeed against other Squads.
Better yet, the experience that you earn in Squads is going to carry over into multiplayer, so it contributes to your overall unlock progress in the game. Your Squads can also be challenged when you are not actively playing, so it definitely makes sense to pick the right team and level them up accordingly so they can mount a suitable defense when challenged – you’ll get XP offline remember if you win some matches.
Watch the official video above to get a clearer idea of how it will all work. It looks like a really fun alternative to multiplayer and a great way from Infinity Ward to keep the game fresh from Black Ops 2.
The fun is going to be selecting Squad members, as the Squad Vs Squad battles are going to end up getting very competitive indeed.
It seems like many gamers are already loving the idea of Squads after some feedback that we have read. Take a look at the clip above and give us your reaction to the new mode. Could it now be the main factor behind your decision to pick up Call of Duty Ghosts on November 5?
