If you use the Netflix app on iPad and enjoy the vast collection of TV shows and movies, then you will welcome the latest update taking Netflix’s app to version 5.0. Full support for iOS 7 has been added along with some new features that only work on the latest software.

What’s new in Netflix 5.0 – you will find a number of stability improvements and fixes with playback, although if you experience any problems after installing this Netflix app update then please share a comment below. Two new features supported in iOS 7 include AirPlay streaming and Netflix HD.

Being able to stream content over AirPlay in iOS 7 to your 10-inch iPad or iPad mini will be welcomed. The clear display found on iPad mini and the larger iPad with Retina will now benefit from Netflix HD as well.

The app update was released on iTunes within the last 24 hours, so you might not have experienced this update just yet. If you left auto installing on for apps in iOS 7, then you should find Netflix version 5.0 automatically installed.

It is worth noting the Netflix app can be used with iOS 6 and above, but iOS 7 is needed for Netflix HD and AirPlay streaming to an Apple TV. You will need to disable AirPlay mirroring to get the new features working.

But the update prevents me viewing on my TV by connecting my iPad to the TV via a dock to composite cable grrrrrr!!

SAME DAMN PROBLEM HERE!! REALLY PO’D

  • Rick

The update stinks!! It prevents me from viewing Netflix via cables to my TV.

  • Camfella

They should have warned us that it breaks the video out to RCA in. I wouldn’t have upgraded. I hope they fix this or I’m going to cancel

  • Diana

I have the same problem, I can’t watch my netflix on the tv using a cable. Please fix this soon

  • Claypaff

Same issue here – so upset – hope they fix this soon. At least I know I’m not the only one having the problem.

  • Mad

Don’t update the netflix app!!,phoned netflix and there blaming apple, rang apple they blamed netflix!,I’ve been screwed for half a months subscription, never again using netflix,I was told”just because you believe it so don’t make it so”?i hope everyone who works for netflix dies of cancer!

  • Tori

so angry right now…my pad connected with a digital av cable to tv no longer works!!!

  • Kimberly Gassner-Harkness

Netflix’s update does not support apple…keeps saying it is not supported and turn of mirroring. FIX!!!!!!!

  • Elana

Netflix version 4 allowed me to connect my iPad to my TV and watch from there. Netflix version 5 does not allow this. As soon as an HDMI cable is attached to my iPad, Netflix Version 5 won’t support the device for video. Audio is supported. The problem is not iOS7 since everything worked before netflix version 5 was updated October 3 on my iPad.
I contacted both Netflix and Apple regarding the issue and while each took a great deal of tutorial time with me, the advice in the end was to wait for Netflix to fix the problem and provide an update.

  • Raffinee

Same issue here with me as well. Apple blamed Netflix and Netflix blamed Apple. Maddening and I am pissed that it no longer streams on the TV. NETFLIX: FIX this NOW!

  • Rmh

Love film is looking very attractive. Rubbish Netflix Management destroying a good product

Well, I just experienced a problem with Netflix and iOS7. Can’t stream Netflix to my HDTV because the display is not supported. The problem is I don’t recall ever having enabled Airplay or Airplay Mirroring on my iPhone 5 or iPad2. What gives? Where can I enable and then disable the mirroring?

  • Lin

I have ipad2 and i updates my netflix app and now it gives me a messsage that my Device is not supported. The TV shows the Netflix Logo, I can hear the audio on the TV but no picture, picture plays on the IPAD. Initially when I called Netflix i was told i had to go to control center and switch off airplay. When j explained I did not have airplay they told me it was definitely an IPAD problem. So I called Apple who informed me that IPAD 2 does not have airplay in any event. So back to netflix who now tell me they recognize it is a netflix problem that is being worked on and they have provided me a credit for month of October.

The problem is Netflix half baked update, here is how you fix it:Getting Your Apple Composite AV out, for older TV’s working again on Your iOS Device with Netflix

Yes the problem is with Netflix 4.3.1 update, just use time machine to recover your older version 4.3 dated September 29 or prior, replace the new 4.3.1, with it, you can find the App in iTuneMobil Applications, the file name is: Netflix 4.3.1.ipa, replace this one with your backup older version: Netflix 4.3.ipa dated September 29 or older, use time machine to find the older file

After Installing iOS7 Netflix will prompt you to upgrade to version 4.3.1, however after upgrading, some of your old features like being able to connect your iOS Device to an old fashion TV’s Video IN will no longer work

To fix it, you must restore your device back to version 4.3 or earlier, any version up to, September 29/2013 will work, you will need to use your Apple Time Machine backup or any other method such as getting a copy from a Mac that as not updated to the newer version, so you want to locate and make a copy of the Netflix Mobile App. version Netflix 4.3.ipa.

The file you are looking for is Netflix 4.3.ipa this is the preinstalled Netflix iOS application that sits in your Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications folder on your Macintosh drive.

If you look in this folder you will find a copy of the updated Netflix 4.3.1.ipa with an October 2013 date or later, this is the culprit new Netflix App, you will be replacing, so use Time Machine, or any other backup system you may be using, and go back to Version 4.3 by copying the older version 4.3 from backup, and replacing the new version 4.3.1 with it.

Prior to doing this connect your iOS device to iTunes directly using USB, and remove Netflix, after this follow the above instructions, then reconnect your device, and reinstall Netflix, the old version will be restored, along with all of it’s loved features.

Stupid update!!!! Same problem here, watched half a movie on Netflix last night by connecting Ipad2 by an HDMI cord and adapter to HDTV…. tried to watch the end this morning and am now told Device is not supported, must turn on Airplay blah blah blah. Spent most of the afternoon trying to figure out how to do so just to find out Airplay isnt an option on my product. IMO the picture was fantastic last night and they just ruined a good thing. SO ANNOYED!

  • JM

The worst update ever! iO7 has done nothing but complicated everything! Very dissapointed with Netflix!!!

  • MW

Same problem, V5 won’t work on ipad mini connected to TV via Apple lighting video/HDMI. Just joined Netflix and been singing their praise but will wait a work for a resolution before hitting the cancel button!!! MW

  • po’d

TC, just spoke with Apple tech. in order to run Ipad 2 via HDMI cord toTV, all the companies need to reprogram, when they updated to airplay they missed up the streaming via HDMI…need to contact Amazon Prime, Netflix and so far NBC site only supports airplay… what a mess.

  • Ruth

Having same problem: “Device not supported. If using Air Play, disconnect mirroring.” Went to Apple store today and they said the issue is with Netflix not upgrading to iOS 7. Very disappointed. Can’t watch movie through HDMI cable to TV anymore!!!

I attach my Ipad 2 with composite cables directly to my tv. Netflix worked up until the update this week. Now I cannot because “Device not supported. If using Air Play, disconnect mirroring.” Now I cannot watch on my tv anymore. They need to fix this or lose all these people.

  • DJH

I have exactly the exactly the same issue. I will be cancelling my sub if this not fixed soon!!!! FFS people, sort it out!

  • J

Undo please. We have been using an hdmi cable from iPad to TV without any problems…..now all of a sudden I can only airplay which means I have to get an Apple TV? Undo that part of the update or I’m gone

    • Jaden E Michiko-Sewell

No you don’t need Apple TV, just reinstall Netflix 4.3

I just got a hold of Netflix over their online customer service chat. And they said they will resolve the problem as soon as possible. They understand that the apple iOS 7 update has screwed many customers over for watching the app via a/v composite cable or hdmi adapter for those who are less fortunate to not have an HD television or apple tv box
    .

  • Kay

    Hulu is working great :)

  • Kay

It’s free for a week on the iPad. Hopefully Netflix will be fixed by then.

  • Michael Castro

They fixed it yeah. I’m able to watch Netflix off of my iPhone 4S using my a/v component cables.

  • Zipp gunn

No they did not fix it cause I’m still having problems. This sucks!

  • Rich

Still not fixed, iPad 3 with hdmi connector
