Rayman Legends 3DS release date still has hope

By Updated on

If you have a PS Vita, you are most likely enjoying the excellent Rayman Legends right now – despite the well publicized missing content. After originally being in development as a Wii U exclusive, Ubisoft’s latest platformer appears to have released on every platform under the sun – except the Nintendo 3DS that is.

With the technical boundaries on the 3DS getting more impressive by the day, there is naturally a big outcry among 3DS owners on why Ubisoft has seemingly decided to ignore Nintendo’s handheld.

You could argue that the 3DS is the more popular system at the moment as well, with games such as Animal Crossing: New Leaf having released, plus amazing games such as Pokemon X and Y and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds due out before the end of the year – don’t forget Mario Kart either.

Apparently though, it’s still not good enough for a port of Rayman Legends to reach the 3DS. The demand is justified further when you take into consideration that Rayman Origins released for the Nintendo 3DS without any problems – so what’s the hold up?

Fortunately, Ubisoft has given a recent interview on this very subject. When talking to CVG, exec Alain Corre remained coy but said that they wouldn’t ‘rule out’ the possibility of Rayman Legends coming to the 3DS in the future.

It’s obviously not a lot to go on, but should provide 3DS owners with the hope that the game will still arrive perhaps at some point next year. We wonder if the hold up is for Ubisoft to find a suitable third-party company to port the game, as they probably don’t have the time to do it themselves with the other platforms already racking up countless sales and their obvious primary focus on DLC content.

Are you holding out for Rayman Legends on the 3DS? If it does come to the system, 3DS owners are really going to be spoilt for choice with the amount of great titles available – PS Vita may have some catching up to do.

Rayman origins on 3DS was not very good transfer compared to other platforms and perhaps Ubisoft does not want to make the same mistake twice.
