The Evil Within new gameplay shows violence level

By Updated on

We have some great news for those of you who are patiently keeping an eye on progress for the highly anticipated survival horror title The Evil Within. The game from the Resident Evil creator is on the way in 2014, but was shown to the public at a developer session at the ongoing Eurogamer Expo 2013 in London.

As far as we’re aware, this is the first time you will get to witness actual and solid gameplay from The Evil Within without any interruptions. Attendees for the first day of Eurogamer were certainly in for a treat, with Bethesda and Tango Gameworks providing not one, but two new generous gameplay clips for the game.

We now have the entire thing for you to watch courtesy of Eurogamer. Skip to 8:20 to tune into the action and enjoy a nostalgic revisit into the survival horror aspects that made Resident Evil such a hit on the original PlayStation.

It looks like the demo shown here is running on Xbox 360 hardware, and looks particularly amazing in the lighting department we must say. Don’t forget that The Evil Within is also on the way to the PS4 and Xbox One, so it could end up as one of the best looking games of 2014 – not to mention the best horror game of next year.

Tango Gameworks are also not holding back on the level of violence, which should be a particular delight to fans of the genre. There are some genuinely scary moments in the footage, especially when we witness the butcher killing the player with the chainsaw in the most brutal fashion.

If you previously were not interested in The Evil Within, we think this gameplay alone will change your mind. Check it out above and let us know your renewed thoughts on the game – day one purchase for you next year or not?

It may be worth waiting for the next-gen version of the game instead.
