We are closing in on the highly anticipated launch for Battlefield 4 and with it, we now have confirmation of the list of multiplayer maps that will release with the standard game out of the box, as well as what multiplayer game modes will be available for players as well.

Developers DICE have issued a very useful Q&A on the game over on the Battlefield Blog, confirming that there will be a total of 10 maps for everyone to play on the standard version of the game. One of these you already know to be Siege of Shanghai, but thanks to some early leaks from Battlelog code, we now have the names of the other nine maps that will be coming as well.

These have been revealed as Operation Locker, Paracel Storm, Golmund Railway, Flooded, Damage, Resort, Abandoned, Dish and Tremors. It’s worth pointing out that the last six map names could be internal code names used by DICE, so we may see full names like the first three at a later date closer to release.

We’re also pleased to reveal a total of seven multiplayer modes that will be available at launch. These include favorites such as Conquest, Domination and Rush, but also some brand new entries as well. One of the new modes will be called Obliteration and has been described as a “Mad dash in vehicles and on foot to deliver explosives”.

Another new mode that will be coming is called Defuse and is a 5v5 close-quarters combat, which DICE describes as highly competitive and lethal – it sounds like this could be the new match type for professional matches among clans.
