With the Digital Show now over for another year in Melbourne it was obvious that we would see a number of videos put on YouTube to give us an idea of what we can look forward to over the next few months. The show looks at everything to do with photography.
It would not be a show if Bluntly was not on hand to get his point-of-view across of the products he has seen at the event. One such product is the new Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO Lens.
The hands-on review of this lens would not be possible if it was not mated to a good camera, and camera in question was the OMD EM-1, which we have already looked at a review of the hardware and stills and recording.
Olympus’s 12-40mm f/2.8 is the first of the Pro Lens they have started to do, so what better test than to mate it onto the OMD EM-1 camera. Even though the current line of lenses is good, they are not built to offer you a professional experience.
In the video review Blunty had an hour to see what he thought of it, although this has been compressed into a 3:46 minute video. The test images really do look good, although we have to wonder if a lot of this is down to Blunty?
Advantages for this lens includes speed, convenience and focal length, but not price. We say this because the Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro Lens price is expected to be around $1,000.
Overal the lens performend pretty well, but you have to remember this is still a pre-production unit.
