Regarded as “The Smart Running Watch” the Echo from Magellan keeps users informed whilst out running with their smartphone, as this device utilizes smartphone fitness apps to their potential. The Echo smart watch links up wirelessly with real-time fitness data coming directly from your handset.
This is an ideal way to remain in control whilst out running, and the option to stay connected with your smartphone is said to be something that more and more runners are using, according to the Senior Director of Fitness Products at Magellan, Clark Weber.
Weber feels this is an exciting outcome as they intend to embrace the next generation of fitness watches, and enthusiasts can now keep updated on everything from fitness data and notifications to achievements displayed on their smartphone.
The list of functions include the option to use Bluetooth Smart and access information like distance, elapsed time and other fitness metrics, along with stop, start lap times and play the music of your choice directly from the Echo smart watch.
With a design made to withstand adverse conditions, a replaceable battery means the Echo does not need recharging, as it uses ultra low power technology running off a replaceable coin cell battery. In addition, the fact that this is a watch, means the day, date and time functions come as standard with a number of bright colours to choose from.
The Magellan Echo is due to release in the latter part of this year and will retail at around $149.99 or a more expensive version at $199.99 with a Bluetooth Smart Heart Rate Monitor. The colour options available means the Magellan Echo comes in black, warm red or cool blue, while the Bluetooth Smart feature is compatible with the likes of the iPhone 4S, 5 and newer, along with select Android-based phones which support Bluetooth 4.0.
Ideal for those monitoring their fitness this also a great way for runners to access their own inspirational running tunes, putting the power of your smartphone on your wrist to keep an eye on at a glance.
