Home Control with Android tablet apps

By Updated on

With so many things in your home coming with built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth it is no surprise apps that can control these devices are becoming more popular. We touched on this very subject yesterday by looking at a Samsung app to control their devices, and also one that gives you access to your gym equipment.

However, that is just the tip of the iceberg because there is a huge choice of Android apps just waiting to give your more control over your home. Before you even consider any of these apps you will need an INSTEON controller and devices, as it is this device that allows for home control via Android tablet apps.

Devices include light bulbs, wall switches, plug-in-modules, outlets and other hardwired devices and thermostats, all of which can be seen in more detail here.

There are 6 apps in all with some of them free to others costing $20. The apps in question are INSTEON for Hub, which is easy to install and gives you control over many devices, and you are even contacted via text or email if a problem arises.
