Xbox One graphics with Ryse is 900p native

By Updated on

With so much scrutiny on next-gen consoles in relation to the official native resolution that the Xbox One and PS4 can support out of the box, we have heard some interesting developments this week on the Xbox One front. It was previously thought that the upcoming launch title Ryse: Son of Rome would be native 1080p, but now we are hearing that this is actually not the case.

If you are a casual gamer who just likes to pick up games from the store and play without hearing any technical insight into the game, this is likely to be a non-issue for you. However, for those that swear by the sword on technical capabilities – this may raise an eyebrow or two.

Ryse: Son of Rome is actually 900p native on the Xbox One, as confirmed on Twitter by Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg. While the game isn’t at full 1080p natively, Greenberg has reminded everyone that the console will upscale all games to 1080p, and that they look ‘amazing’ when the final result is met.

Greenberg actually said earlier this week that the game was 1080p native, but has since amended his statement with the following Tweet which you can check out here. As we mentioned above, 900p native isn’t going to make a difference to the casual gamer, but is there perhaps a little disappointment to the hardcore following that it’s another Xbox One game that isn’t 1080p native?

Sony still can’t manage to output every PS4 game in 1080p native either, so it looks like it is going to be trial and error once again throughout this generation. Let us know your thoughts on the native 1080p resolution debate and whether it makes a big deal to you or not.

900 to 1080, thats only 180 pixels. Most movies I watch sut more than that with the black border on the top and bottom of the screen. I’m pretty sure If they didn’t mention it and just run it 900p, 90% of people wouldn’t notice the border.

wtf? border? it says it’ll upscale to 1080p. So there won’t be a border.

I said “if they did,” not “they are”.
