We already touched on the trade-in problems when upgrading to an iPhone 5S this Friday, but now we have received feedback directly from a few O2 stores in the UK in regard to iPhone 5S stock and it doesn’t look good. Not being able to pre-order the iPhone 5S was bad enough in 2013, but now we are hearing you will not be able to pickup an iPhone 5S on its release date either in most stores.
Normally, you would line-up in a queue on launch day and are one of the first to get hands-on with the new Apple iPhone. This will not be the case this year and it seems like Apple is going all out to promote the iPhone 5C, although this news does tie-in with production problems for their iPhone 5S model.
No iPhone 5S stock at O2 UK on release date – after phoning a number of O2 shops in the UK we received the same answer. You will not be able to pick-up a new iPhone 5S on its release date at O2 UK, and instead would need to order the handset and wait for it to arrive.
There will be iPhone 5S stock in some select O2 stores and Apple Retail Stores, but the majority will not have stock of the new smartphone. The O2 stores we phoned also stated a delivery date would be hard to give at launch as well, so it seems like a really bad deal this year.
We might suggest Product Reviews readers order directly at Apple’s online store if you cannot find a UK store with iPhone 5S stock. The reason this is a good idea would be thanks to being unlocked, and you will be given a delivery date when you’re at the checkout.
You can order two iPhone 5S handsets directly with Apple this Friday. If you know any O2 stores that have stock, then feel free to leave a comment below or even if you know stores that will not have stock.
