If you are a big Singstar fan and regularly enjoy house gatherings using the PlayStation music service, you are probably eager to find out what future lies for Singstar with regards to the PS4. We have seen Singstar recently turn up on PS3 as an application on the XMB, but should this platform transfer over to the PS4 in its entirety or not?
We can tell you that one major talking point that is currently in discussion by Sony is whether Singstar should become a free-to-play game, following the current trend which we have seen with so many other games over the last couple of months.
You may remember that users were very unhappy that they couldn’t delete Singstar from the XMB after it appeared automatically, but hopefully Sony will be planning a reboot of the game which will ensure that gamers won’t even want to consider this.
Singstar is a lot of fun with friends – ask anyone who has played it. Moving to a free-to-play platform on PS3 and PS4 permanently could turn out to be a massive success, with Sony perhaps offering a free 30 second demo of songs – then giving consumers the option of purchasing that song for full play with a small fee.
Providing weekly updates and ensuring a bright and vibrant interface, as well as offering the latest musical releases would also go a long way in restoring some magic to the Singstar brand. Below is a crucial update from Dave Ranyard, director of Sony’s London Studio:
“Phase 2 is a complete redesign and overhaul of the whole game structure and UI for the digital and F2P age, which is due for release later this year.”
If a new look F2P Singstar is going to be ready for release on PS3 at the end of this year, does that mean that we can also look forward to seeing Singstar on PS4 as well? We would love to get the parties started with a bit of Kool and the Gang mixed with some cocktails.
Are you a big Singstar fan? Let us know what you would like to see for the future.
