In most cases when a new smartphones comes to the market there is a good chance that you will still be locked into a contract, which means you might not be able to get your hands on let’s say the iPhone 5S. However, there are options available to you, but before you consider taking action we need to remind you that there is nothing radical about the new smartphone from Apple, and so you really need to think whether this is the best time to upgrade your phone.
If you have an iPhone 5 then you might be happy with iOS 7 once it is ready for download on September 18, which is this Wednesday, because it will make you feel as though you have a new phone. Having said that, there are still some nice touches on the iPhone 5S, and so if you want to get your hands on one, then there are a few options for you.
iPhone 5S without contract price in USA – The simplest way for an iPhone 5S upgrade is to just purchase the handset outright, which is what we do most times. Okay, so you cannot take advantage of the subsidized price, but this is the price you pay to get your hands on the latest tech.
However, to help offset this price you can sell your device on one of the many recycle services, or on an auction site. If you already own an iPhone then the resale value on those are far greater than most Android handsets. Let us say you have a 32GB iPhone 5, then chances are you will be able to achieve almost half the value of the iPhone 5S.
You can also ask your carrier if you can pay an early termination fee, this means you will need to end your current contract and start a new two-year deal. The cost of the termination fee depends on the carrier and how long you have left on your current contract.
In some cases a carrier will offer you $100 not to upgrade, and if you took this deal you can then put the $100 and the price you can sell your current phone for towards the cost of an iPhone 5S.
