The availability of iOS 7 GM caused a huge debate because some people had assumed it would arrive before the big Apple iPhone event on Tuesday, but we pretty much knew for certain it would go live an hour or so after the event had finished.
Now that devs have seen what the final version of iOS 7 has to offer before the public release, we thought you might want to see as well, which is why we have this iOS 7 GM tour ahead of its public launch.
First up you get to see the new animations come up, which is smooth and pretty fast. There’s also the new control center, which we have looked at in the past, but good to see the final version before it reaches public release. You get a host of settings you can control from one easy location, and while this is something new for iOS users, those on Android have enjoyed this feature for a few years now.
Double tapping the home button takes you to a new multitasking layout, and we have to say using this is much better than iOS 6, and if you want to get rid of them a simple swipe upwards will do so.
We’re not sure if we have explained how search works in iOS 7, but all you need to do while on the home screen is swipe up instead of right.
Overall iOS 7 is a vast improvement over iOS 6, but some would argue it still lags behind Android. At the end of the day both platforms serve a purpose, and while you have more freedom with Android, there is no denying that iOS 7 is a smoother experience.
