Leading up the Apple keynote in September it wouldn’t be the norm without a few strange rumors being thrown around, and they didn’t come more confusing than seeing optimized for iPhone 6 text on iTunes yesterday. Considering this is the official Apple website, some people might feel it is solid confirmation that an iPhone 6 release date will happen in 2013 but this couldn’t be more wrong.
iPhone 6 App Store references – we took a look yesterday after seeing a tweet pointing out that the iPhone 6 might launch this month, so our digging started by looking within the iPhones App Store.
This didn’t reveal any iPhone 6 text next to apps that were supposed to feature it, so we went online to the Canada iTunes pages and found references to optimized for iPhone 6 next to a few apps. These included iMovie, iPhoto, Pages and a few others.
It is worth noting that this was not the case on the UK and United States iTunes pages. We asked ourselves if it could be a leak pointing to a surprise in the form of iPhone 6?
Everything becomes clear – after looking over at a few other countries we started to see a pattern. Not only will you find the correct optimized for iPhone 5 on many pages, but you will also find optimized for iPhone 6 and iPhone 7. We might be wrong, but we doubt Apple will be releasing an iPhone 7 anytime soon.
It was a great tease to see Apple’s official websites revealing iPhone 6 text, but this is just a mistake on Apple’s part thanks to references to iPhone 7 as well.
The keynote will take place in 2 days time and you can expect to see an iPhone 5S and 5C with a release date on September 20th.
