While this year will be a little different for Apple in terms of two new models of iPhone, the 5S price is expected to be similar to last years model at launch. The iPhone 5C price will cost less but it won’t be cheap, so you can expect to pay from around $650 in the United States and £530 in the UK for an unlocked version. If there is a change in iPhone 5S launch price it will be very slight.
It has been rumored for many months that Apple will launch a new cheaper iPhone now known as 5C, but the very idea of cheap and Apple don’t really go hand-in-hand. The new iPhone 5C will be cheaper but not cheap, this is the general consensus among analysts now that we are a few days away from launch.
Pricing the iPhone 5C – most of the details for iPhone 5S and 5C have leaked, which includes expected specs, size and colors but the price point for the new low-cost iPhone has stayed hidden.
The cheaper model is expected to help Apple a lot in areas of the world that don’t subsidize prices, so this includes such places as China and we have even seen a separate event planned for this country.
Most analysts agree on the iPhone 5C price point and this ranges from $400 to $500, so with that in-mind Apple will need to have one clever marketing plan in place considering Android phones can be picked up for a lot cheaper. Of course this speculation could be proven wrong, and Apple might break into a completely new price range although it’s very unlikely.
If Apple manages to price the iPhone 5C at $400, then we could see this target the mid-range market in China. This would help Apple increase unit sales in that part of the world, and even in the UK and USA where millions might be willing to pay a little more for iPhone 5C but not as high as the expected iPhone 5S price.
Do you think Apple is doing the right thing going for mid-range smartphone buyers with iPhone 5C at a $400 price, and not the lower end of the market?
