Now that we have seen silence for a few weeks it confirms Apple’s plan for an iOS 7 Gold Master, and this means a release date on the same day as their iPhone 5S event. The day will be September 10th, but what about the iOS 7 GM release time?

The same pattern was used last year and iOS 7 GM went live after the Apple event then as well, although the date in 2012 was Sept 12th. You shouldn’t expect the download to land during the Apple keynote or even right after the event, but it will become available to the development community later that day.
Apple will explain at the event to expect the final build later on that evening, but they will not offer an exact hour on Sept 10. Now that we have confirmed the day of the next software update for developers, we can simply look at previous years to predict roughly when the iOS 7 GM release time will be.
If last year is anything to go by and without any unexpected problems, we should see the iOS 7 GM release about 3 hours time after the start of Apple’s keynote. This meant the download went live last year around 1PM PST or about 8-9PM in the UK.
Leading up to going public – developers will have a week to test the iOS 7 GM build before releasing to public between 7-8 days later. Looking at last year again, we can see that the iOS 7 release date is likely to be the Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week. This will be September 17-18th for a public launch onto iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, the iPad 2, iPad with Retina, iPad mini, and 5th-gen iPod touch.
There will be a slow down initially of Apple’s servers at public availability and we haven’t seen a year without problems thanks to all hosting setups having limits. Considering the amount of devices and people planning to update to the latest mobile OS, it might be an idea to wait a couple of hours until the rush is over.
Bottom-line: you will see the same pattern repeated again this year and this means the iOS 7 Gold Master download landing on event day along with a release time roughly 3 hours after Apple’s keynote starts. The public build will arrive 7-8 days later.
