The new Kindle Paperwhite 2 has been getting the hands-on treatment at IFA 2013, and this means a better look at what’s changed from the older model. For external design you won’t notice much change on the outside, although Amazon’s shiny logo is visible on the back of the 2013 Kindle Paperwhite.

Main changes for features on the new Kindle Paperwhite include a new processor that’s quoted as 25 percent faster than the previous generation, so you can expect faster page turning. The display has been upgraded with a new E-Ink panel with better lighting technology for even more brightness when required.

Amazon has delivered a few software improvements on the new Kindle Paperwhite as well, which includes Wikipedia support and a number of new apps. Two of these new apps include a slider feature for browsing chapters without leaving the page, and a flash card app for saving words you have looked up the meaning for.

There are a number of reasons why you would want the 2013 Kindle Paperwhite over normal tablets. These include a battery that lasts weeks rather than hours, a next-generation built-in light for improved reading without eyestrain, a very light device for reading easily with one hand and no screen glare when in bright sunlight.
