Nintendo had promised fans something special with their Pokemon X and Y news-themed Direct event this week and boy, they didn’t disappoint. If you thought Mewtwo was going to be the main excitement in terms of Pokemon X and Y Mega Evolutions, think again.
Nintendo and Game Freak has stunned fans by not only revealing that original Kanto starters Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur will be in the game, but each respective Pokemon will all be coming with a Mega Evolution as well.
It also backs up very early rumors which teased the possibility of a new professor handing out the original starter Pokemon in the game. It now means of course that you will probably start your Pokemon X and Y adventure on Kalos Region, with the choice of choosing between new starters Fennekin, Froakie and Chespin, but now also with the original three as mentioned above as well.
Without further do, feast your eyes on the above video which confirms Mega Evolutions for Charizard, Venusaur and Blastoise. You’ll see that the design has changed slightly for each new iteration – with Charizard now featuring spiked horns, Blastoise utilizing one massive primary cannon on its shell and Venusaur sporting a much healthier bloom and muscular frame.
Aside from visual changes, the new mega evolutions will also come with brand new abilities. We’ll focus on Charizard for now, as the creature will retain the Fire/Flying type, but will now be granted a special ability called Drought.
We think you’ll agree that the sight of seeing Mega Charizard in action is pretty mouthwatering. Charizard was already considered to be one of the big badasses of Pokemon lore, but Mega Charizard is now going to be on a whole different scale.
Let us know what you think of the announcement and which mega evolution you will be using the most out of the three alternative starter Pokemon.
