If you are seeing any claims of an iOS 7 beta 7 release date planned or that it has squeezed in before the Apple event expected in 8 days time, then you should just ignore them. The Gold Master is expected to be next before a public release and any blog claiming another iOS 7 beta has gone live for developers to download must be somewhere other than this planet.
After checking with our developer for the slight possibility of an iOS 7 beta 7, he confirmed moments ago that the standard “your software is up to date” message appears on an iPhone 5S and 4S running beta 6.
This means with just over a week to go until an expected Apple keynote, we highly doubt you will see iOS 7 beta 7 release today, even though some blogs claim it will arrive or has launched already. This news is only confusing people rather than reporting the facts, although we will update Product Reviews readers when a new update lands at some point.
If we were to see an iOS 7 beta 7 download today, then it would only leave a maximum of a week before the Gold Master would arrive at Apple’s event. Even if this possibility happens today, you should note that it hasn’t happened at the time of writing and in our opinion the next update will be Tuesday next week at the event (if this does end up being the date).
We reported that the iOS 7 Gold Master would obviously be next a few days ago, and detailed some of the app crashing problems our in-house developer experienced. These included the Messages app and some 3rd party apps on both iPhone 5 and 4S, but the issues for apps crashing were random.
This article received some feedback in the form of other problems with iOS 7 beta 6. You can see some of that feedback through the link above, but we wanted to highlight some issues that users said need a fix in iOS 7 Gold Master.
One user stated the iOS 7 camera app crashes on iPhone 4S when trying to take a photo with the native app, or with “any app associated with the camera”. They said this is one reason why the Instagram app crashes.
Others point to issues with older models like the iPhone 4 and how it takes a long time to boot up. When it does boot, the commenter said, “pictures are too big on the home screen and keyboards are different in some apps”.
Another also reported the Messages app crashing, “I open a particular text message and the app crashes every time until I delete that text”.
Would you like to see an iOS 7 beta 7 today or Gold Master next Tuesday? In our opinion, the next software download will come at the expected iPhone event next week and it will be a Gold Master and then releasing to public later this month before a new iPhone arrives.
It should be pointed out that some people are also getting confused over the iOS 7 release date thanks to certain blogs misinforming readers again. The new iPhone 5S and 5C event might happen on September 10, but this in no way will be a release date for either the phone or new software.
The most you will see is new hardware revealed and a Gold Master of iOS 7. So, any blogs stating different are not that well informed.
