iOS 7 beta 7 release unfounded

By Posted 2 Sep 2013, 01:07

If you are seeing any claims of an iOS 7 beta 7 release date planned or that it has squeezed in before the Apple event expected in 8 days time, then you should just ignore them. The Gold Master is expected to be next before a public release and any blog claiming another iOS 7 beta has gone live for developers to download must be somewhere other than this planet.

After checking with our developer for the slight possibility of an iOS 7 beta 7, he confirmed moments ago that the standard “your software is up to date” message appears on an iPhone 5S and 4S running beta 6.

This means with just over a week to go until an expected Apple keynote, we highly doubt you will see iOS 7 beta 7 release today, even though some blogs claim it will arrive or has launched already. This news is only confusing people rather than reporting the facts, although we will update Product Reviews readers when a new update lands at some point.

If we were to see an iOS 7 beta 7 download today, then it would only leave a maximum of a week before the Gold Master would arrive at Apple’s event. Even if this possibility happens today, you should note that it hasn’t happened at the time of writing and in our opinion the next update will be Tuesday next week at the event (if this does end up being the date).

We reported that the iOS 7 Gold Master would obviously be next a few days ago, and detailed some of the app crashing problems our in-house developer experienced. These included the Messages app and some 3rd party apps on both iPhone 5 and 4S, but the issues for apps crashing were random.

This article received some feedback in the form of other problems with iOS 7 beta 6. You can see some of that feedback through the link above, but we wanted to highlight some issues that users said need a fix in iOS 7 Gold Master.

One user stated the iOS 7 camera app crashes on iPhone 4S when trying to take a photo with the native app, or with “any app associated with the camera”. They said this is one reason why the Instagram app crashes.

Others point to issues with older models like the iPhone 4 and how it takes a long time to boot up. When it does boot, the commenter said, “pictures are too big on the home screen and keyboards are different in some apps”.

Another also reported the Messages app crashing, “I open a particular text message and the app crashes every time until I delete that text”.

Would you like to see an iOS 7 beta 7 today or Gold Master next Tuesday? In our opinion, the next software download will come at the expected iPhone event next week and it will be a Gold Master and then releasing to public later this month before a new iPhone arrives.

It should be pointed out that some people are also getting confused over the iOS 7 release date thanks to certain blogs misinforming readers again. The new iPhone 5S and 5C event might happen on September 10, but this in no way will be a release date for either the phone or new software.

The most you will see is new hardware revealed and a Gold Master of iOS 7. So, any blogs stating different are not that well informed.

Really your devs source is his iphone?! Is this a parody blog? You guys are so funny!

I think you missed the point of this article.

iOS 7 Beta 6, takes years to boot up…

    • fo0ling

I thought it would be fixed on beta 6 since beta 5 had a really long boot up. Seems that developers don’t care addressing these problems. We’ll see about that CrApple.

Beta 6 was an emergency bug fix involving iTunes Match and was not, by any means, a planned beta. It’s not unreasonable to assume a fix will likely be found either in GM or final; if not, you’ll still probably live.

        • fo0ling

GM gives everyone an applause, preferably setting and focusing prior to the final release, yea, the improvement is noticeable, but the convenience is what the fans wanted to wait for. ,

    • Duh

Maybe, just maybe, you haven’t considered its a BETA VERSION

    • James Tan

iPhone 4S, beta 6…iTunes Store will not load. Just closes out.

    • Duh

Ajg, this is what Apple calls a beta. Expect that to happen.

      • Nicholas Osborne

But considering thus is the next to last version… we should start to see fewer and fewer bugs… but my iPad on beta 6 is just horrible, really. Crashes and doesn’t load, it’s horribly slow… I surely hope beta 7 is released soon! And beta 6 on my iPhone is marginally better than my iPad, but still has a few bugs. And I am still wishing for a few more unreleased features and updates, because beta 6 just doesn’t feel complete yet.

        • Justin Schmitz

Interestingly enough, I’m not having any problems anymore. Since the beginning of both betas 5 and 6 my iPad resprung all the time. Open safari? Respring. However, now that has (thankfully) stopped and I’m having a wonderful experiance with it. Granted, I just use it for Clash of Clans and Safari, but still.

Funny, iOS Beta 6 on my iPad mini works perfectly. I really like it.

I dont know iOS 7 works perfectly on my iphone 5 and ipad mini but on my iphone 4 its buggy, crashes a lot, when hnlocking the phone the apps hide behind the dock and its extremely slow. I have a feeling iPhone 4 might get thrown out from the supported iOS 7 devices? Maybe not but it sure has a long way to go. Iphone 5 and iPad mini work exeptionally well and I haven’t had a crash since beta 3…

  • rafaelpz

Beta 6 on my iPhone 5 is running perfectly. It only crashes and resprings if I try to show something new to a friend. Damn.
