It seems that a number of our readers don’t expect a Plants vs. Zombies 2 Android release date anytime soon, and it is not the lack of details but the planned Far Future update to be a cause for disappointment. When the game went live it did so with no mention of any other mobile platforms, and questions directly to PopCap about Plants vs. Zombies 2 for Android resulted in stay-tuned messages.
This could be a positive thing to hear that we should wait and see, but then the news following that tweet has been details of the Plants vs. Zombies 2 Far Future update for iPhone’s iOS and not an Android release date.

We have already touched on the lack of Plants vs. Zombies 2 on Android shortly after the iPhone release date, but since then the Far Future update has been announced at Gamescom and this led to hundreds of Android users taking to forums with a feeling of being left out. One commenter said, “great, there is millions of Android users with many different brands of smartphones and some developers still can’t be bothered to put Android OS on a level playing field with iOS”.
It is clear that delivering at least a Plants vs. Zombies 2 Android release date is not a priority for PopCap. These users were let down after thinking the original launch delay was due to getting an Android version out as well, but then an iOS version landed without any news of Google’s operating system. “I really thought the next news would be about an Android launch date after iOS received the game, but no, it seems an update to the iOS game is still more important. This makes me want to get an iPhone for continually being put last with games”, said another forum user.
Do you expect to see Plants vs. Zombies 2 for Android this year? We should remember that PopCap took over a year to port the original game from iOS to Android, although some of us hope that things might have improved since EA acquired PopCap.
