It has been 11 months since the release of the G15, and now Canon has announced its successor, the PowerShot G16, which as you would expect comes with a host of new features to further improve the series. So what can we expect from the latest G-series camera?
Canon G16 specs detailed – The main specs include a new 12.1-megapixel high-sensitivity CMOS sensor, which works in conjunction with Canon’s latest DIGIC 6 processor, giving the camera the ability to shoot at up to 9fps.
Looking at the design, which you can see above and also in the Canon G16 preview video below, it is very similar to its predecessor, but its inside where all the changes have occurred, which isn’t a bad thing considering the G15 design impressed many in the industry.
Stuff has gone hands-on with Canon G16 and S120, which Canon believe will make consumers put their smartphone down and use these cameras instead because of their app-like filters and unique features.
It’s hard to tell if Canon has done enough to persuade people to upgrade from the G15, but we should have the answer once we see the first real life Canon G16 performance reviews. The Canon G16 UK release date is expected to be in late September and should retail at £529.
