If the news of a PS4 discount and a western PS Vita price cut wasn’t good enough for you during Sony’s GamesCom event, we bring even more treats for you to digest. Sony has confirmed that the transition from PS3 over to PS4 is set to be a pleasurable one, depending on which games you decide to pick up.
It’s now been revealed that picking up the next-gen versions of games that also come out on PS3 will net you a discount. For example, you can buy the likes of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty Ghosts, Battlefield 4 and Watch Dogs on PS3, then get the digital version of the same game on next-gen for a reduced price.
Sony nor the respective publishers for these games are not saying what the exact discount will be, but expect it to be worth your while. At the end of the day, the majority of consumers are not going to pick up two versions of the same game, so publishers should know that they have to make it worth their while if consumers are going to part with even more cash.
From what we can see, it looks like Call of Duty Ghosts and Battlefield 4 are going to be the two main games from this list that most gamers will be interested in picking up both versions. This is because of the all important factor of data saving, as it’s already been confirmed that players who pick up Battlefield 4 on current-gen can then pick up where they left off and carry on with their progress on a next-gen version.
We fully expect this to be the same case with Call of Duty Ghosts, so we’ll have to wait and see what that magical digital discount will be. One word of warning though, Sony has said that it won’t last forever, so it will be a limited deal only.
What are your thoughts on this? Hopefully we see this cross-gen discount program extend to the likes of FIFA 14 and other games that will be appearing on both systems.
