Next generation Nissan GT-R exterior and hybrid hypothesized

Earlier today we had a look at the 2014 Subaru WRX and STI and pointed out how old and tired the design is looking, which is the complete opposite to the new Nissan GT-R. However, Nissan believe they have at least two more radical model changes before they need to consider retiring the GTR.

It’s for this reason why the next generation Nissan GTR has come up for discussion once again, because they realize the final model around 2017 will need to offer something special, and that means copying what some of the big supercar manufactures are now doing, relying on a boost of electricity to supply more power to the wheels.

That’s right we could be looking at a Nissan GTR Hybrid model, although nothing like your Prius. Instead it will make use of a powerful engine and electric motors to give an extra boost of power when needed, much like F1 cars and their KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System).

The 2017 Nissan GTR exterior design will also need to offer something very different, because if we are to go by a recent concept vehicle heading to Frankfurt next month, we could be looking at some radical car design changes.

Motor Trend has been talking to Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn about the next-gen GTR development and if some of what he had to say comes true then bring on 2017.
