The Nokia Asha 501 is a full touch smartphone released as part of Nokia’s Asha family at the end of June and this has given the device time to settle in before reviews take a look at what’s on offer. Available in either single or dual-SIM configuration the handset runs on the new Asha platform which is regarded as a polished developer-friendly operating system.

To get a decent impression of what this phone is all about we have inserted a YouTube video by PhoneArena that gives us an 8-minute review of the Nokia Asha 501. With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth this product has 3G connectivity and relies on EDGE and GPRS (2.75G) for mobile-based networking.

According to reports this phone is available in the United States for around $99, although that’s before subsides and taxes. Boasting great colours this is classed as having a fun touch-based interface and looks set to rival other affordable smartphones. Last month we discussed the Nokia Asha 501 price in India being just Rs 5,300, and highlighted a review of the features, although we did stress that those who want to have a thorough search around ma probably find this even cheaper.

PhoneArena are known for reviewing a whole range of smartphones not only on the market but also those which are yet to land, so although we don’t always share the same sentiment we enjoy watching their reviews and comparisons as this is the ideal way to bring a visual account to potential customers. Therefore, as far as cheaper models are concerned do you feel the Nokia Asha 501 is good value for money?
