UPDATE: iOS 7 beta 5 is now live after Apple released it on a Tuesday for once, you got to love Apple for wanting to surprise us all.
Thanks to the iOS 7 beta 5 release time not landing at 10AM PDT yesterday, it is now pretty obvious what date and time will see the next beta released to developers. This will be Monday August 12th and with the same time as we have seen for the past betas, which would see the UK receive iOS 7 beta 5 at 6PM.
Some developers first though Apple might stick to their original 2 week pattern but release one week after beta 4 thanks to a delay that could have been due to hackers. This didn’t happen and it now seems pretty obvious that iOS 7 beta 5 will not launch less than 2 weeks after the previous beta, no matter what happens to the developer portal.
What do you want to see fixed when iOS 7 beta 5 releases? Our apps have been tested with all the betas and seem to run fine, but during our tests we have seen the iPhone 5 crash a few times and even on iOS 7 beta 5. We see a number of thick lines coming down the iPhone 5 display, and then the handset just restarts. We are not sure if this is something that can be fixed from a clean install, but from past experience and the fact that this seems to be an isolated issue it might very well be fixed that way.
The iPhone 4 is one of the oldest devices that can install iOS 7 and those running beta 4 also claim to have a few issues. The main problem seems to be with speed and some of these people wonder why the iPhone 4 is so slow, but this might just come down to the age of that particular iPhone.
We will of course let Product Reviews readers know the moment iOS 7 beta 5 goes live, so check back Monday morning if you’re in the United States.
