The world had been waiting in anticipation as to what Motorola would come up with when they unveiled their Moto X phone, and while it is not a high-end device, it still has great potential. However, there is one nagging issue, and that is the Moto X UK release bewilderment.
It seems in Motorola’s wisdom they believe they will have great success with the Moto X by just releasing it in the U.S. There has to be a reason to this madness, but what is it? Motorola believes that by releasing their new handset on home soil they will then be able to spend the time needed on working on a range of similar devices for other countries, such as the UK.
Have they not learned a thing from Microsoft, because they tried a similar strategy with the Surface Pro, and it not only hurt sales, but profit as well. Apple used to apply such tactics with the release of the first iPhone, but they have now learned in order to have a successful product you need to release it in the biggest markets at the same time.
The lack of Moto X UK release benefits the Nexus 5 though, as this will not only be released in several countries at the same time, but also run a naked version of Android, although we do not know if this will be Android 4.3 or Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, but the smart money would be the latter.
Okay, so we know that the Moto X is close to a vanilla version of Android, but Motorola has still used a very light UI, although there is talk of a Google Edition, which we will discuss another time.
Do you think a US only release for the Moto X will come back to bite Motorola?
